Warsash Sailing Club
Hampshire
It was always going to be difficult to match last year’s laying up supper, with its electrifying power outage (sorry about the pun) and the convivial atmosphere of the evening in a wonderful village environment. However this year’s supper had a similar mishap, the subdued lighting would not work, nevertheless the musical entertainment provided by ‘Charles & Sarah’ plus the showing of two DVDs on aspects of Olin Stephens life and excellent catering provided by Warsash S.C. made the evening one to remember.
Still, one advantage Warsash Sailing Club has as a venue over Upton Grey is that it allowed three visiting S & S boats to moor alongside free for the night (Clairella, DEV and Saurian). They then repaid this kindness with open invitations to diminish their on-board wine stocks before and after the evening’s main event.
The morning after, those still recovering from the previous evening’s intake of ‘refreshments’ were offered coffee at David and Juliet’s home nearby, that is up to midday, when the usual rules relating to the “sun over yardarm” came into force. A most enjoyable get-together!
