Password protection is established in two separate areas:
Members only sections
You will find that some sections of the site are for members only and therefore have all members received an activation e-mail with your password. In order for the password to become active you need to click on the activation link, and this has to happen within a period of 7 days.
Your ID is your e-mail address as it appears in the membership database.
You can log on now to get access to members only areas. It will stay open until you leave the website.
If you need a new activation e-mail for the members only section, please e-mail the Webmaster.
Members Corner
The other area is “Members’ corner”, a forum where we should see lots of interaction such as Crew wanted, Crewing offered, Racing, Harbours you love and those you don’t, Boat jumble, Maintenance, and more.
In order to participate, you yourself need to register on the forum page separately. The easiest for you is to register the same ID (your e-mail address) and password as you received for the Members only sections.
The purpose of this site..
is to serve as a communication hub for the UK and Ireland section of the association,
and also to help to attract new members. We already have the International site,
www.sparkmanstephens.info and this site aims to complement this while also providing
more focus on UK and Ireland matters.
The value of this site depends on the content provided by the members and I urge
all of you to contribute. It is simple and guidelines are available and easy to follow.
You can all contribute with the story of your boat. Many can also contribute with
yacht information, interesting articles, drawings etc. A particularly dynamic area
will be the “How to” section because here all of you have the opportunity to share
your experiences and read about those of others.
The links section can be most valuable and I would appreciate receiving your favourite
links to include, for example weather sites, chandler info, regatta info to be added
to the list.
You will see this icon (RSS feed - Really Simple Syndication) on both the
Home page and on the Members’ corner page. If you click on these icons you will be
able to receive a notification straight to your browser when updates to the site
or to the forum are made. For more details about RSS feeds, go to your desk top and
press F1, enter “RSS feed” in the search box, then click on “Using RSS feeds”, and
you can see all about what it is and how to take advantage of it.
